FREEZE DRYER (CHRIST/ALPHA LSC)

It converts ice into water vapor by sublimation under vacuum and removes that vapor from the frozen mass. Pressure is reduces while heat is added to allow the frozen water in the material/ sample directly change to a vapor.

ROTARY EVAPORATOR

It is used to remove solvent from a sample through “evaporation under reduced pressure”. The reduced pressure in the apparatus causes the solvent (in the round bottom flask) to boil at a lower temperature than normal. By rotating the round bottom flask, it increases the liquid’s surface area and thus the rate of evaporation. The solvent vapor travels into the cooler water condenser, where it condenses and drips into a separate receiving flask. This process removes the solvent, therefore leaving a concentrated compound in the original round bottom flask.

HERB GRINDER (RETSCH)

This is a high speed rotor mill. It is used for the rapid size reduction of soft to medium-hard and fibrous materials. It ensures the gentle preparation of analytical samples in a very short time.

About Our Synthesis & Formulation Laboratory

The Synthesis and Formulation Laboratory is a facility designed for the development, optimization, and production of chemical and pharmaceutical compounds. This lab plays a vital role in supporting research and innovation of transforming raw materials into functional compounds / usable chemical entities through synthesis, and then converting these entities into final products through formulation. It is commonly used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, polymer, agricultural, and chemical industries. Common activities in this laboratory are such as synthesis of small molecules and active ingredients, emulsion, suspension, gel, and cream / lotion formulation, homogenization and stability studies. There are various range of equipment for synthesis and formulation use such as fume hoods, magnetic stirrers, hotplates, soxhlets, rotary evaporators, vacuum filtration systems, freeze dryers, vacuum pumps, mixers and homogenizers, grinders and blenders, pH meters, incubators and shakers.

INDUSTRIAL OVEN

Most industrial ovens operate on the principle of thermal conduction. This heat can be generated in various ways – through gas, electricity, steam or thermal fluids. The product to be processed is placed inside the oven and the door is closed to maintain a consistent temperature. Common function of an industrial oven in the lab are drying for plants sample from roots, leaves, fruits, flowers and etc.

ULTRASONIC HOMOGENIZER

Ultrasonic homogenizers can be used to homogenize samples to create uniform and consistent mixtures. Ultrasonic homogenizers can also be used to disperse solid particles in liquids to create stable suspensions.

PARALLEL SYNTHESIZER

It is frequently used to speed up the discovery of new compounds as well as carry out screening for the most suitable process conditions. The Applications of Parallel Synthesis including Combinatorial Chemistry, Developing Compound Libraries, Drug Discovery and Development and Therapeutics Profiling.
